Physically Forgotten
Barline 1h,Q,h,2,cl
The code is the shorthand off my printed menu; the Key tab decodes every letter.
- 1 1/2 oz Gin
- 3/4 oz Cynar
- 1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
- 2 dashes Orange bitters
Stir with ice until cold, then strain.
Coupe, lemon twist.
Taste
An ounce and a half of gin, three-quarters of Cynar, half an ounce of maraschino. The gin leads; artichoke bitter and cherry liqueur split the rest. Two dashes of orange bitters. Stirred, coupe, lemon twist.
History
Alise Moffatt built Physically Forgotten at Shift Drinks in Portland, Oregon. Brett Adams and Jacob Grier print it in Raising the Bar (2022): an ounce and a half of gin, three-quarters Cynar, half an ounce of maraschino, two dashes of orange bitters, lemon twist. It drinks as a Martinez with Cynar in the vermouth slot. This menu keeps that pour.
