Katinka

The code is the shorthand off my printed menu; the Key tab decodes every letter.
- 1 1/2 oz Vodka
- 3/4 oz Apricot liqueur
- 1/2 oz Lime juice
Shake hard with ice, then strain.
Coupe.
Taste
An ounce and a half of vodka, three-quarters apricot liqueur, half an ounce of lime. Stone fruit and lime; the apricot sweetens the sour by itself. Shaken, coupe. Short, tart apricot.
History
David Embury prints a Katinka in The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks (1948): vodka, apricot liqueur, and lime. Haus Alpenz reprints that spec as two ounces of vodka and half an ounce each of apricot and lime. This menu is leaner on the vodka and heavier on the apricot: an ounce and a half, three-quarters, and half a lime, shaken, coupe.
