Hat Tip

The code is the shorthand off my printed menu; the Key tab decodes every letter.
- 1 1/2 oz Gin
- 3/4 oz Elderflower liqueur
- 1/4 oz Campari
- 1/2 oz Lemon juice
- 1 barspoon Simple syrup
Shake hard with ice, then strain.
Coupe.
Taste
An ounce and a half of gin, three-quarters elderflower, a quarter of Campari, half an ounce of lemon, a barspoon of simple. The elderflower is the sweet; Campari is a bitter pink film. Shaken, coupe. Floral gin, lemon pith, and a thin bitter edge.
History
No first printing or named bartender turned up for the Hat Tip. Elderflower liqueur in this form dates to St-Germain, launched in 2007, so the combination is recent. This menu shakes an ounce and a half of gin with three-quarters elderflower, a quarter of Campari, half an ounce of lemon, and a barspoon of simple, in a coupe.
