Light Rum, shaken
Elderflower Daiquiri
Barline 2,Q,1,c
The code is the shorthand off my printed menu; the Key tab decodes every letter.
- 2 oz Light rum
- 3/4 oz Elderflower liqueur
- 1 oz Lime juice
Shake hard with ice, then strain.
Coupe.
Taste
Two ounces of light rum, three-quarters elderflower liqueur, a full ounce of lime. No simple: the liqueur is the sugar. Lime is a third of the drink, so it reads tart, then floral. Coupe.
History
The parent is the Daiquiri, rum, lime, and sugar, in print from Jacques Straub's 1914 Drinks. An Elderflower Daiquiri cannot predate Robert Cooper's St-Germain, launched in 2007; the Seattle Times, citing Cooper's New York Times obituary, notes the liqueur was ubiquitous in bars by 2008. This menu puts three-quarters of an ounce of elderflower in the sugar slot and a full ounce of lime against two ounces of light rum. No simple.
