Taste

An ounce and a half of light rum and three-quarters gin, so the rum leads and the gin is botanicals underneath. Three-quarters lime, half an ounce of grenadine, one dash of Angostura. Pink, bark through the pomegranate. Shaken, coupe.

History

There is no Stan Lee in the pre-1970 manuals, or by that name in Difford's, Punch, or Imbibe. The nearest parent is Harry Craddock's Stanley Cocktail in the 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book: equal gin and rum, a sixth each of lemon juice and grenadine. The split base and the grenadine stay, lime replaces lemon, rum leads at an ounce and a half against three-quarters gin, and a dash of Angostura is added.
