Taste

Two ounces of bourbon, half an ounce of lime, and ginger beer over ice. Ginger sits on the corn sweetness and the whiskey still reads through the heat. Lime keeps it from going syrupy.

History

The Mule became a template the moment the Moscow Mule sold vodka: spirit, lime, ginger beer, ice. The bourbon version is the Kentucky Mule, which Difford's also files as the Bourbon Mule. It is the older Buck pattern, spirit with citrus and ginger, under a newer name, and no bartender or date is attached to it. This menu pours two ounces of bourbon, half an ounce of lime, and ginger beer over ice, with a lime wheel.

Same shape, other bottles

The Highball family, with the bottle that changed.
