The code is the shorthand off my printed menu; the Key tab decodes every letter.
- 3/4 oz Mezcal
- 3/4 oz Cognac
- 1 oz Sweet vermouth
- 1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
- 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Stir with ice until cold, then strain.
Coupe, orange twist.
Taste
Three-quarters each of mezcal and cognac, a full ounce of sweet vermouth, so the wine leads. Half an ounce of maraschino is cherry and almond. Two dashes of Peychaud's. Stirred, coupe, orange twist. A smoky Martinez, grape and pit.
History
Ezra Star built the 1910 at Drink in Boston around 2014, named for the year the Mexican Revolution began and as a nod to the bar's 1919, a rum Manhattan named for the Molasses Flood. Punch prints three-quarters each mezcal and cognac, a half ounce of maraschino, an ounce of Punt e Mes, two dashes of Peychaud's, orange twist. It is a Martinez with smoke and grape brandy in place of gin. This menu keeps those measures on sweet vermouth.
